Xaxaba Camp is run by Afrika Ecco Safaris from the local Xaxaba community. It is located on a private island deep within the heart of the Okavango Delta, a world-heritage site renown for its abundance of wildlife. This is a true rustic, wilderness experience ideal for the wild at heart. The focus here is on the community, the wildlife and untouched views in an area not known to many visitors. The island overlooks the famous Chief’s Island, and guests will have the opportunity to enjoy walks on this island. There are plenty of activities to enjoy that cater for the adventurous.
There are a maximum of 6 Meru-style tents individually set-up in a prime location overlooking the world-renown Chief's Island. Each of the tents sleeps 2 people, which means the camp can accommodate 12 people in total. To freshen and spruce up, you are provided with standing hand basins that are constantly renewed with fresh water. There is also a seating area just outside your tent, complete with a canvas shade cover.
The structure and itinerary is quite flexible, and determined by group dynamics and presence of wildlife. Activities take place on the waterways and on Chief's Island and Xaxaba Island. This is a water based safari experience, with plenty of set activities on offer. Guests also have the option of indulging in a bit of fishing, but will need to bring their own equipment.
